Atatürk, der hinter mir stand rief zu mir: "Efendi, efendi !" Ich drehte mich um. Ich vergesse es nie, ich hatte einen Rakikrug aus Kristall in meiner Hand. Ich erwiederte: "Bittesehr mein Herr. Haben sie einen Befehl mein Pascha?" Obwohl die Republik gegründet wurde, sprach trotzdem jeder Atatürk mit "Paşam (Mein Pascha)" an. Obwohl Fürstentümer/Fürsten (Beylik) und Paschatum/Pascha's (Paşalık) abgeschafft worden sind, wurde dieses "Pascha" für Atatürk nicht abgeschafft. Dies ging bis zu seinem Tod so. Mit dem Atatürk, mit dem ich an diesem Abend zum ersten mal sprach, spielte sich Folgendes ab: "Wie ist deine Name?" "-Cemâl (Jamâl)." "Hat das (der Name) kein Ende?" "- Hat es, Cemâleddîn (Jamâluddîn). Daraufhin bewegte Atatürk sich auf mich zu und sagte: "Achsooo. Namen können Kemâleddîn sein, aber nicht Cemâleddîn (Jamâluddîn). Bleib du trotzdem als Cemâl. Warst du überhaupt der Antlitz der Religion, dass sie dir diesen Namen gegeben haben?" Es verging darüber eine halbe Stunde. Sie speisten weiter. Ich konnte hochgehen vor Freude. Ja, Atatürk hatte mit mir gesprochen, und zwar sehr lange. Ich überlegte mir schon, das alles, was ich erlebt hatte heute, morgen meinen Freunden die sich über mich lustig machten zu erzählen, damit ich mich so bei Ihnen räche.
