Als das Fasten im Ramadān durch die Offenbarung des Qur'ān zur Pflicht gemacht wurde, stellte der Prophet, Allāhs Segen und Friede auf ihm, das Fasten am Tag der 'Āschūrā' zur freien Wahl.Der Prophet (SallAllāhu 'alayhi wa Sallam) sagte: "Das Fasten am Tag von 'Āschūrā', wenn es von Allāh angenommen wird, tilgt die Sünden des letzten Jahres." Er fragte: `Warum tut ihr das?` Sie antworteten: `Dies ist ein guter Tag, es ist der Tag, an demAllah die Kinder Israels vor ihren Feinden rettete, deshalb fastete Musa an diesemTag.` Er sagte: ` Wir haben mehr Anrecht auf Musa als ihr,` so fastete er an diesemTag und wies die Muslime an, an diesem Tag zu fasten." (al-Bukhari, 1865) In einem Bericht, den Muslim überlieferte, heißt es, die Juden sagten: „Dies ist ein großer Tag, an welchem Allah Musa und sein Volk gerettet hat und Pharao unddessen Volk ertrinken ließ." „Musa fastete an diesem Tag",dazu heißt es in einem anderen Hadith, den Muslim überlieferte: „…aus Dankbarkeit gegenüber Allah, deshalb fasten wir an diesem Tag." In einer anderen Überlieferung von al-Bukhari heißt es: „…so fasten wir an diesem Tag um ihn zu würdigen." In einer von Imam Ahmad überlieferten Version steht zusätzlich: „Dies ist der Tag, an dem die Arche auf dem Berg Judi landete, so fastete Nuh an diesem Tag aus Dankbarkeit." „…und wies die Muslime an an diesem Tag zu fasten," heißt es in einem anderen Hadith, überliefert von al-Bukhari: „Er sagte zu seinen Gefährten: `Ihr habt mehr Anrecht auf Musa als sie, also fastet an jenem Tag.` "Das Fasten am Tag von Aschura war schon in der Zeit der Jaahilijja bekannt, vor der Sendung des Propheten, Allahs Segen und Heil auf ihm. Es wird berichtet, dass A`ischa, Allahs Wohlgefallen auf ihr, sagte: „Die Leute der Jaahilijja fasteten gewöhnlich an diesem Tag…" Al-Qurtubi sagte: „Vielleicht fasteten die Quraisch an jenem Tag aufgrund einesfrüheren Gesetzes, zum Beispiel das von Ibrahim, Allahs Friede auf ihm." Außerdem ist bekannt, dass der Prophet, Allahs Segen und Heil auf ihm, schon in Mekka am Tag von Aschura gefastet hat, bevor er nach Medina ausgewandert ist. Als er nach Medina auswanderte, sah er die Juden diesen Tag feiern, er fragte sie nach dem Grund und sie antworteten wie in dem obigen Hadith beschrieben. Er wies die Muslime an, sich von den Juden zu unterscheiden, die den Tag als Feiertag gestalteten. Dies wird in dem Hadith von Abu Musa, Allahs Wohlgefallen auf ihm,berichtet: „Für die Juden war der Tag von Aschura ein Feiertag. [nach einer Überlieferung von Muslim: der Tag von Aschura wurde von den Juden in Form eines Feiertages gewürdigt. Nach einem anderen Bericht, ebenfalls von Muslim überliefert: die Menschen von Khaybar (die Juden) gestalteten es als Feiertag und ihre Frauen trugen an jenem Tag ihren Schmuck und ihre Symbole] Der Prophet, Allahs Segen und Heil auf ihm, sagte: `Ihr sollt an jenem Tag fasten.`" (al-Bukhari) Das Fasten am Tag von Aschura war ein Schritt im Prozess, das Fasten als vorgeschriebene Verpflichtung in den Islam einzuführen. Fasten erschien in drein Formen. Als der Gesandte Allahs, Allahs Segen und Heil auf ihm, nach Medina kam,hielt er die Muslime dazu an, an drei Tagen jeden Monats zu fasten und am Tag von Aschura. Dann machte Allah das Fasten zur Verpflichtung, indem Er sagte: „…das.Fasten ist euch vorgeschrieben…" [Sura 2:183]. Die Verpflichtung wurde vom Fasten am Tag von Aschura auf das Fasten im Ramadaan übertragen. Dies ist ein Beweis aus dem Bereich des Usul al-Fiqh, dass es möglich ist eine leichtere Pflicht aufzuheben, indem sie durch eine schwerere ersetzt wird.Bevor die Pflicht zum Fasten am Tag von Aschura aufgehoben wurde, war sie also eine wirkliche Pflicht. Das wird ganz deutlich aus der Anweisung Muhammads,Allahs Segen und Heil auf ihm. Sie wurde auch noch dadurch bestätigt, dass der Befehl, an diesem Tag zu fasten, eine allgemeine Anweisung und an alle Muslime gerichtet war. Eine weitere Bestätigung erhielt diese Pflicht dadurch, dass sogar Mütter angewiesen wurden, ihre Säuglinge an diesem Tag nicht zu stillen. Ibn Masud berichtet, dass das Fasten am Tag von Aschura aufgehoben wurde, als das Fasten im Ramadaan zur Pflicht wurde. Es war dananch keine Pflicht mehr, an diesem Tag zu fasten, aber es ist immer noch sehr wünschenswert (mustahabb). ▶Die Vorzüge des Fastens am Tag von Aschura Ibn `Abbaas, Allahs Wohlgefallen auf ihnen beiden, sagte:„Ich habe den Gesandten Allahs, Allahs Segen und Heil auf ihm, an keinem anderen Tag so versessen aufs Fasten gesehen wie an diesem Tag, und er hat keinen Tag mehr bevorzugt als diesen Tag, den Tag von Aschura und diesen Monat, den Monat Ramadaan." (al-Bukhari, 1867) Die Bedeutung dieses „versessen sein" ist, dass er bestrebt war, an jenem Tag zu fasten, um die Belohnung dafür zu bekommen.Der Prophet, Allahs Segen und Heil auf ihm, sagte: „Das Fasten am Tag von Aschura, so hoffe ich, wird Allah als Wiedergutmachung für das vergangene Jahr akzeptieren."
