(Quran, 19:56-57) Für die Worte "an einen hohen Ort" nehmen wir eine Sahih-Überlieferung als Erklärung: Tabari berichtet, dass Hilal Ibn Jusaf gesagt hat: "Ibn Abbas fragte Kaab (d.h. Kaab al-Ahbar), während ich anwesend war: :"Was bedeutet die Aussage Allahs "Und Wir haben ihn an einen hohen Ort erhoben."?" Kaab antwortete: "Allah offenbarte Idris: "Ich schreibe dir jeden Tag soviel an guten Taten auf (wörtl. Ich hebe (zu Mir) empor...), was alle Kinder Adams zusammen tun – wahrscheinlich sind damit die Menschen seiner Zeit gemeint – da mochte Idris, dass seine guten Taten noch mehr werden. Da kam zu ihm einer seiner besten Freunde von den Engeln, und er sagte zu ihm: "Allah hat mir das und das geoffenbart. Sprich du mit dem Todesengel, damit sich meine guten Taten mehren." Der Engel trug ihn daraufhin zwischen seinen beiden Flügeln und stieg daraufhin mit ihm in den Himmel empor. Als er gerade im vierten Himmel war, traf ihn der Todesengel, der gerade herabstieg. Der Engel sagte dem Todesengel, was ihm Idris gesagt hatte. Der Todesengel fragte: "Wo ist Idris?", worauf der Engel antwortete: "Er ist hier auf meinem Rücken." Da sagte der Todesengel: "Das ist erstaunlich. Ich wurde entsandt, und mir wurde gesagt: "Nimm die Seele von Idris im vierten Himmel." Da wunderte ich mich, wie ich denn die Seele von Idris im vierten Himmel nehmen solle, wo er doch auf der Erde ist." Dann nahm er dort seine Seele.
